Margo Utomo Agro Resort is the old resort with dairy farm and plantation. It has 51 standard rooms equipped with hot and cold water. This resort was established in 1975 as Margo Utomo Family Home Stay and become the trend setter of Agro Tourism in East Java especially for Plantation crops. Margo Utomo Hill View Cottages the new resort which overlook at "GUNUNG MENYAN"/Range of hills in south of Kalibaru. Margo Utomo Hill View Cottages is located about 3 kilometers southeast of Margo utomo Agro Resort. This Resort was built in 1994 and was named as Margo Utomo Cottages. This resort offers rooms which have hill view and garden view. Margo Utomo Hill View Cottages has 30 rooms that are classified into 14 Standard Rooms,12 Superior Rooms , 04 Deluxe Rooms. Down stream of river in front of this resort has great rapids for white water rafting.

ALAS PURWO TOUR – THE JUNGLE

The tour to 43,420 acres of Alas Purwo National Park is an outstanding experience to observe the pristine tropical low-land rainforest as well as mangrove on the other side of national park. Alas Purwo which is literally means “the first forest” from Javanese words is one of the well-preserved rain forest which protected by myths and law. It is believed by the local people about the sacred forest. There are several destination points to visit such as NGAGELAN BEACH (The turtle sanctuary), PURA GIRI SALAKA (an old Hindu temple), SADENGAN (The observing tower) and TRIANGGULASI BEACH. It will be a wonderful moment to discover Banteng/Javanese Bull (Bos Javanicus), Green Peafowl (Pavo Muticus), and Indian Deer (Muntiacus muntjak) in the wild. Mostly animals will go to waterhole in savannah “Sadengan” in dry season.Additional trip to mangrove forest can be arranged (the well-preserved mangrove forest in Java) on "Bedul Estuary" or "Segara Anakan " take one hour by typical traditional fisherman boat "KATIR" is really wonderful trips. Take the trip through public railways line with the lorry train, will absolutely give us different view of Mount Kumitir scenery in the west of Kalibaru .Mount Kumitir is one of great natural barrier in the old time that make Banyuwangi and Bali isolated for centuries from the rest of Javanese civilization . Through the Railways tunnel that built in 1910 had changed the history. The trip is supposed for small group (4 – 6 persons) for one car which start from Kalibaru Station to Garahan train station

SUKAMADE OR MERU BETIRI ADVENTURE TOUR - THE TURTLE BEACH

Witnessing one of great natural event of surviving pre-historic reptile can be one great vacation experience. The principal object of this adventure tour is watching the turtle to lay their eggs on virgin secluded beach which is well-known as SUKAMADE BEACH. Before searching the turtle you will go through tropical low land rainforest on the southern coast of Java island. It is also possible to walk on jungle road for haft to one hour after long driving from Kalibaru to Rajekwesi (Fishermen villages).National Park that has been set in colonial era as one of wildlife reserved in east java is worth to visit during your vacation in Indonesia. The peak season for green turtle (mostly found laying their eggs on Sukamade Beach) is on wet season but usually can be found on entire year.

(Note: It is not guaranteed that we will find the sea turtle laying their eggs on this trip )

1^st day

09:00 – 12:30 Depart to Rajekwesi Beach (1^st stop on the tour)

12:30 - 12:45 Stop at the gate of Meru Betiri National Park, continue by walking to Rajekwesi fishermen village (500 – 750 m)

12:45 – 13:30 having Lunch and rests on Rajekwesi food stall

13:30 – 15:00 continue the trip to sukamade guest house ( the most difficult one, four wheel drive vehicle mostly recommended), and stop at Teluk Damai (literally translated means “PEACE BAY”). It’s possible and recommends walking on jungle road from the flat point to security post ( haft to one hour walk).

15:00 - 16:00 Visit the plantation factory of coffee,cocoa,rubber (the crops are can be seen on the way to sukamade) and continue visit the Sukamade plantation village (Afdeling)

16:00 – 18:30 Arrive at the guest house, take a shower, rest until dinner time

18:30 – 19:30 Dinner on Sukamade Guest house

19:30 – 19:45 Depart to Sukamade Beach by jeep ( 5 km)

19:45 – 20:15 Stop at Turtle hatchery or Park Ranger Office (possible to see the turtle hatchlings all the time of year)

20: 15 – 20:30 Walk to the beach (800 m)

20:30 - Sitting on the beach wait for the signals from park ranger who search for the turtle (Not allowed to smoke, turn on the flashlight, loud talking or making any loud noises.

23:00 - If we are lucky to find the turtle and watch the wonderful processing of laying eggs, we go back to guest house and have nice dream.

One of the adventage to stay in Wisma Pantai, the ranger will awake us anytime in the night they find a sea turtle

2^nd day

07:00 – 08:00 Breakfast on Sukamade Guest House.

08:00 – 12:00 Depart to Kalibaru or Ketapang harbor

If you are interested on nature and wish to explore more on Meru Betiri National Park, you can take 3 days and 2 night tours.You can spend the 2nd day by exploring Meru Betiri National Park with local jungle walk guide. You may be amazed by huge jungle trees, rattan shoot which keep clean water which you can drink, strangling ficus is also amazing thing to realize that the stronger and faster will survive (Jungle Law).

If you start little early you can get to "Permissan Beach" one of virgin white sand beach on south west of Sukamade Plantation.

By taking 3 days 2 nights tour you have 2nd chance to see the sea turtle, if you didn't find it on 1st night visit to the beach.

Few local tourist destinations like waterfall (“WONO REJO”) which called as TIRTO KEMANTEN, natural reservoir “SUMBER SALAK” which was long time ago was used as swimming pool by the plantation general managers can be one of the places you may be interested to include in your trips.You may take to visit Cocoa Factory in Afd.Sumber Baru to see how they process cocoa wet beans into dried cocoa dried beans.It is an important process to determine the quality of cocoa powder or chocolate bar.
